RARE ALBINO MONKEY ON THE SILVER RIVER

On our most recent trip a rare baby albino Rhesus Monkey was spotted. We always see something new on each of our tours, but this was a totally unexpected sighting. All of the animals that we see on the Silver River are living in the wild, but we hope to see this little fella again.

Watching a Snake Bird (Anhinga) chase a Wood Duck off his tree was hilarious, but you had to be there. The manatees are spotted on almost all trips of late and are always a thrill to see.

Alligators, birds and turtles are prolific along the way, and add to the unique experience of the River. The sights and sounds of the Silver River have lured visitors for hundreds of years, and continue to bring pleasure to those who visit it today.

GET AWAY FROM IT ALL ON THE RIVER

Take a few hours to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Silver River and get away from the hustle and bustle of modern life.  Surround yourself with Mother Nature and one of her many treasures.

Among the special sights often encountered are the Rhesus Monkeys, Ducks, Otters, and the vast population of Birds.   You will see Turtles sharing a log with a resident Alligator, all basking in the sun.  We eagerly await the return of the ever increasing number of Manatees as cooler weather approaches.

All the wildlife on the River can be considered tame as laws have been put into place to protect them and the waterway.  As you travel by boat, you will get as close as you have ever been to experiencing these animals in their natural environment.  To top it off,  the gin clear water allows you to view the different fishes and aquatic life, as well as the many springs along your way.

With our departure location just three miles from the city limits, the Silver River is within easy reach of all who visit Ocala/Marion County.  Schedule a trip out on an early weekday morning and enjoy having the River and all it has to offer all to yourself.

See you on the River!

ABUNDANT WILDLIFE ON THE RIVER

Spring has finally arrived! This is a great time of year for seeing the River. The weather is pleasant and the wildlife is plentiful. Capt. Nick just spotted the largest manatee he has seen on the Silver River, and the birds are abundant with migratory birds swelling the normal population. An early departure is best in order to see the River when the wildlife has not yet been disturbed by visitors.

The spring Largemouth Bass bite on the Ocklawaha River is very good right now. For those who are unfamiliar with the area, the Silver and Ocklawaha Rivers converge. Fishing is prohibited on the Silver River, but is much enjoyed on the Ocklawaha.

Until next time…see you on the Rivers!
